HVM Racing Indy Grand Prix of Sonoma County:

PDVSA HVM Racing is off to a solid start to the Indy Grand Prix of Sonoma County at the Infineon Raceway after running over 35 laps on Friday.  E.J. Viso clocked the 12th and 16th times of the two practice sessions, but the team was more impressed with their added knowledge of the track and car.

Making their first start at Infineon, the team tested last week in preparation.  They took the data learned and were able to establish a base to improve on this weekend.  Friday, the team continued to try new setups to the car and find additional speed to compete for the win Sunday.

Comments from PDVSA HVM Racing Team Owner Keith Wiggins after practice at Infineon:

“We are making a lot of progress with the car.  We are pretty close and just need a few tenths of a second to be capable of running up front.  This is not a forgiving track and just one-tenth of a second is a big difference here.

“Right now, we have more data to look over and E.J. gave a lot of positive feedback about the car.  This is one occasion this season where we can really apply a lot of data and improve as the weekend goes along.”

Comments from PDVSA HVM Racing Team Driver E.J. Viso after qualifying at Infineon:

“Today was another good day for us because we didn’t have any problems and were able to get a lot of time with our car and the track.  There is a lot of data to look through and figure out what worked and what didn’t.

“I don’t have any major concerns now. We were close to the top 10 earlier in the day, but the speeds don’t matter too much.  Today, the goal was to keep trying different setups and then have a fast car for Saturday and Sunday.”
