UNFORTUNATE QUALIFYING EFFORT FOR HVM RACING IN THE LONESTAR STATE

Fort Worth, Texas – (June 6, 2008) With temperatures reaching 100 degrees andextremely high winds, the Texas Motor Speedway looked like a challenging event for the PDVSA HVM Racing team. They arrived at the famous Speedway coming off a top-ten finish in Milwaukee and the Thursday free practice seemed to confirm that the team transitioning from the Champ Car World Series was progressing through the field and quickly becoming a respected contender in the IndyCar series.

Thursday evening practice continued the optimism, with E.J hovering around the 10th to 15th position with little effort.

Friday, however, started on a different note. An electrical problem delayed E.J. Viso's PDVSA HVM Racing car #33 from running during most of the afternoon practice session. With the resulting loss of track time, the team had to base its qualifying setup more on available Dallara data.

The result was unfortunately the team’s worst result to date in the 2008 season, with E.J. Viso qualifying last on the 28 car grid.

Keith Wiggins - PDVSA HVM Racing team owner said:

"It is never good to qualify last. We obviously are not happy with the result but are not looking for excuses either. We took a direction which lost us 3 mph and in such a competitive series, this type of drop has a big impact. I am sorry for the team and E.J. Viso, who have both shown that they can compete at the top of the grid together.

This is only a hiccup and I know we will recover from it, starting with tomorrow's race. We know that we have a good race car and it is a long race where the heat will play a major role. E.J. has demonstrated that with the right car and strategy he can move up the field and everyone will, as usual, work hard to give him just that."

E.J. Viso - PDVSA HVM Racing's driver said:

"I am very disappointed with the result. We had some good speed yesterday and I felt that we could get a competitive qualifying position. Unfortunately, I think we took the wrong direction and need to learn from it. I am confident we can turn things around and perform well tomorrow.

It is a quite a tricky track with the main "straight" being not straight, and making it even more difficult to overtake. It is going to be hot tomorrow and the wind will play an important factor too. We have shown good pace in Kansas, Indy and Milwaukee and I know that Texas will be no different."
