As Crew Chief at HVM Racing, Daryl Fox oversees the shop crew and day-to-day building of the cars. A New Zealand native, Fox left his homeland at age 20 to see the world. He spent time in places like Australia, Switzerland and the Cayman Islands, working as a mechanic, farmer and cropduster. He came to the United States in 1988 when an acquaintance told him about an opportunity to work as a mechanic for a Super Vee team.

Throughout the 1990s Fox worked on Atlantics and Indy Lights teams. He joined his first IRL team in 1994 as a mechanic for Arie Luyendyk’s car at Indy Regency Racing. He got his first opportunity to crew chief in 1996 with PacWest Racing, where he worked with multiple drivers, including Scott Dixon, then the youngest driver to win an IRL race. Fox came to Herdez Competition (now HVM) in 2002 and has since served as crew chief for drivers such as Mario Dominguez, Ryan Hunter-Reay, Nelson Philippe and E.J. Viso.

In his off time, he enjoys home improvement projects, boating and traveling.
